Now Northwich - Yoga Under the Moon

I was delighted to be a part of Now Northwich Festival 2022, teaching 'Yoga Under the Moon' under Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon installation. Here's a link to find out more about Museum of the Moon https://my-moon.org/

Festival information can be found at https://www.nownorthwich.co.uk/ a big thank you to the Festival for inviting me, and especially to the Young Producers working with the Festival who programmed yoga and helped make the session happen.

Yoga Under the Moon of course had the theme of The Moon at its heart. Celebrating the wonder of the moon, its phases, power and light through gentle yoga movement including a moon salutation, (with adaptations if needed) plenty of relaxation and a chance to spend some time under the moon in this majestically mesmerising setting.

Thank you to everyone who attended 'Yoga Under the Moon' please let me know if you enjoyed it, and a thank you to Kelly from Wild Apple Yoga for assisting me on the day - you can find Kelly @wildappleyoga on facebook and Instagram

If you didn't get chance to join the session you can join me from the comfort of your own home via the recording of the online version of this class - although you will have to imagine the moon above you! FREE 5 Day Meditation Challenge

Learn 5 simple techniques that you can use anytime, anywhere, to create some space and be more present.

Taking an intentional pause, using mindful techniques to help to work with your busy mind rather than fight against it, and being more in the present moment can really help.

In this meditation challenge the techniques I share can be built into your day to day life to suit you. At the start or end of the day, between tasks, ad hoc, or at a time you choose to set aside as part of your schedule, it’s up to you. Each day you will receive a 5 minute video where I guide you in a different technique. At the end of the 5 days you can pick your favourites to use whenever you need some breathing space.

Relaxation to support deep rest and sleep

A yoga nidra to create space and deep rest

This 25 minute yoga nidra will invite you to explore the space throughout your body in which to rest.

A relaxation for better sleep

This 18 minute relaxation was recorded at one of my online gentle and restorative yoga classes - enjoy the rest

Simple Meditation Practices for beginners:

Sit upright on a stable chair such as a dining chair, unless you are really comfortable sitting on the floor.

You can also meditate lying down but you might fall asleep more easily!

7 Minute Rising and Falling Practice

A guided meditation working with the noticing technique and moving into working with the breath as a meditation object, labelling the breath Rising and Falling.

7 Minute Noticing Practice

A simple guided meditation to practice drawing inwards through the sensations in the body. Using the noticing technique to come into the present moment.

Garden Meditation

A 21 minute guided practice recorded in my garden.

Gently connect to your surroundings and draw yourself inwards. Enjoy being in the fresh air. Let the sounds and sensations of being outside guide your practice. You can practice this meditation in your own garden, or use the sounds on the recording if it's too cold or rainy to be outside. Enjoy being in, connected to and part of nature and the world around you.

Love Meditation

A 15 minute meditation practice taking you gently in towards your inner self, the space where you can just be.

When we spend time just being we connect to our essence of love which underpins everything that we are and everything that we do. This love is what connects us all together. There’s an introduction and the meditation begins at 4min 18.

Sun Salutation Practices

This is the Sun Salutation we most often do in evening class. Suitable for all except ladies during pregnancy (see my pregnancy resources instead). It’s a variation on a traditional salutation, without Chatturanga Dandasana. I took this video out in the sunshine - the best place for a salutation of course, but most of the time in the UK at least you’ll be practising this inside!

This is a gentle variation on a sun salutation. Suitable for all except ladies during pregnancy (see my pregnancy resources instead). This version has less strong transitions between poses and less requirement for arm strength. Great for those in my daytime, gentle classes, and for beginners. (Tip: you can put a blanket, or fold your mat over under your knees if you need to).
