Welcome to my Hatha Yoga Classes in Northwich
Space to slow down, breathe, and connect to yourself
When you step onto the mat in one of my classes, you’re invited to slow down, breathe, and explore each yoga pose with awareness and ease. Yoga has an amazing ability to give you whatever you need in the moment. If you arrive in class needing calm and peacefulness, you’ll find it. If you are looking to move and stretch and challenge your body you can enjoy the space and freedom yoga brings physically. There will always be a positive shift physically and mentally from the start of your class to the end. You don’t need to be flexible, you can be any size, shape or gender. Yoga will meet you where you are.
“Sarah is friendly, open and welcoming. Her yoga classes are available for al levels and are very inclusive. It is her knowledge, interest and lovely calm manner that make her classes stand out”
My Yoga Journey
I have been a student of yoga since 2001 and and a teacher since 2013. Yoga helps me to create space for my mind as well as my body. It’s not only about moving my body with awareness, but also time to connect to myself fully. My classes are designed so that you can do the same.
I benefit from continuous learning with some amazing teachers and you can find more about me and my yoga journey here
What can you expect in a Breathing Space Yoga class?
My classes always begin with a few minutes of settling in – whether seated or lying down this may include breathwork or meditation and helps you transition from the busyness of your day onto your mat. We then move our bodies with a little time for warming up with joint freeing exercises and simple poses, before practicing slow, short sequences of yoga poses. There’s usually a few poses we practice often and then there will be a variety of poses to suit the theme we are working to. At the end of class you will enjoy relaxation which I guide you in and out of gently. If it is a rest focused class I will guide you in Yoga Nidra to end.
“I have been going to Sarah’s Yoga classes for the past five years. Sarah provides a very varied programme of yoga activities. They are suited for my age and ability-namely gentle and relaxing yoga. I have found the classes to be well suited to me. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and I would recommend them without hesitation. Sarah is a caring yoga teacher who makes the classes fun.”
Each class is gently themed—sometimes through yoga philosophy, a poem or quote, a reflection from nature, or another inspiration to carry with you. These themes become pathways to explore your practice more deeply, and to discover how yoga can support you beyond the mat, offering tools for navigating both the challenges and joys of daily life.
You will enjoy
Calming, mindful Hatha yoga that helps you to connect deeply to your body and quieten your busy mind
Simple, accessible yoga poses with adaptations to suit everyone in the room.
Mindful exploration of poses, taking time to feel how they stretch and challenge your body, enjoying a steady pace, exploring variations and having fun with it.
A sprinkling of gentle laughter as we practice together, often when a pose is a little more challenging and causes some wobbles!
Careful, but not rigid, alignment so that you can work safely but in the way that suits you
Breathwork
Meditation
How to rest and relax. There is always time for a ten minute deep relaxation at the end of class, and longer if the class is focused on restorative rest.
You will leave feeling refreshed, lighter and ready for the rest of your day or week.
“I really look forward to each session, it has made a big difference to my life. I feel calmer, more flexible, toned and more aware of my body and breathing. Would highly recommend!”
How can yoga help your day to day life?
Yoga is more than movement; it is a practice that offers space for reflection, acceptance, and healing. Over time, you may find that what you experience in class ripples outward, leaving you calmer, more balanced, and better able to meet life and its responsibilities with openness. You may simply come for the postures and rest, or you may find the deeper practices gradually become a source of strength and meaning in your life. However your journey unfolds, there is always space for you in my classes.
“By the end of the hour, I feel the benefit. I’m more relaxed & able to put any little niggles I had into perspective”

What are the differences between my classes?
My classes in Northwich come under 4 categories and are all suitable for beginners or experienced students:
Mixed Level Hatha Yoga – a steady but more challenging class, we will include some slow flowing sequences such as sun salutations, more challenging poses and balances, and movement up and down from the mat. Mindful breathwork, meditation and relaxation to end are always included.
Gentle Yoga – a slow paced class with simple classic yoga poses which promote mobility and stretch. We move slowly up and down from the mat minimally through class making it an accessible class for those less mobile. There’s a good variety of poses for those seeking a slow and gentle class. Mindful breathwork, meditation and relaxation to end are always included.
Gentle Yoga and Relaxation – a similar class to Gentle Yoga, but with an extended time for deep relaxation at the end. This class includes some restorative yoga poses using extra yoga props – available to borrow if needed – to promote rest and relaxation comfortably.
Resting Classes – these classes include Yoga for Deep Rest and The Resting Space. These classes are pretty much floor based classes, and include some or all of the following: seated and lying restorative yoga poses using extra yoga props, mindful practices, breathwork, meditation and yoga nidra guided relaxation.
Frequently Asked Questions:
-
Hatha Yoga is the overall term for the practice of moving the body into yoga poses (asanas) with a connection to the breath, this is the yoga practised most in the Western World and the type you may be familiar with seeing. Under the Hatha umbrella are many styles of yoga practice, from slow and restorative, to strong or flowing vinyasa classes. For the most part though, if a class is described as Hatha yoga the class will typically guide you through postures at a slower pace with more guidance on how to do each pose with good alignment.

I often liken yoga to music – there are so many kinds, and definitely one or more to suit everyone’s tastes and needs. Some people will stay with one style of yoga and others will practice a few to suit the needs of their body, their minds or their mood, their age. There is no hard or fast rule. This is why yoga really is for everyone.
Here’s a few examples:
Hatha Yoga is usually slower paced with a focus on safe alignment
Vinyasa Yoga links poses together in a flowing sequence and can be slower or faster paced
Restorative Yoga focuses on resting poses using cushions, blankets and other yoga props to promote rest and balance the nervous system
Yin Yoga has longer held poses to stretch more deeply
Iyengar Yoga is Hatha Yoga with precision alignment and longer held poses
Ashtanga Yoga is a stronger practice focused initially on a small number of yoga poses
In addition to movement and yoga poses there are other practices – breathwork or pranayama, meditation, study of yogic culture and philosophy and the history of yoga.
